Café au Lait Rosé Dahlia

Café au Lait Rosé Dahlia has all the great characteristics of its sibling, Café au Lait, the most popular dahlia grown in the U.S., except for the different colours. From midsummer until the first frost arrives in fall, this long-lived, decorative-type dahlia unfurls gigantic, fully double flowers in dazzling shades of lavender-rose. The lustrous colours stand in stark contrast to Café au Lait's subtle hues of creamy white blended with tan and light pink-peach. The huge, 10" blooms form on sturdy stalks that tower 4' tall, where they can easily be seen by passing butterflies. With its enormous flowers, brilliant colouration and considerable height, Café au Lait Rosé is excellent for growing in the rear of a sunny border, or for bringing indoors to use in a vase. Unappealing to foraging deer and nibbling rabbits. Dahlias are not winter-hardy plants, so their tubers should be lifted each fall in all but the warmest climates. Pack them in peat moss and keep stored in a cool, dry, dark place until replanting in spring.
