Early in the season, when this lungwort is in bloom, its long, pointed, apple-green leaves are speckled with silver. As the season progresses, the silver spreads until the foliage is covered with a lovely silver sheen. The tubular, half-inch flowers grow in clusters and are a gorgeous violet-blue when they emerge, transitioning to purple and then pink. Pollinators can't resist these vibrant inflorescences, which are among the most brilliantly coloured blooms of all perennials. An excellent companion plant for hostas, ferns and bugloss.
